HELLINIDA FOUNDATION – A NEW ORGANIZATION THAT HELPS WOMEN OF THE GREEK DIASPORA
New York, NY, April 4, 2017 – The Hellinida Foundation, a not-for-profit organization, is coming to the aid of women in Greece and the Diaspora suffering from the adverse effects of the global financial crisis.
The organization headed by Irene Archos, and Vasia Kallimachou, has a three-prong purpose divided in serving the three phases of a woman’s life: Kores-educate, Gynaikes-advocate, and Yiayias-celebrate.
“Greek women need an organization that celebrates who they are and all the many contributions they make to their families, their work place and their societies,” Archos explained. ” They need a forum and a network to provide support, education, and advocacy for them.”
Hellinida Foundation exists to connect, educate, empower and celebrate women of Hellenic descent the world over. It has allowed women from all parts of the Hellenic Diaspora achieve their life goals by increasing self-esteem, by uniting them to their culture and to each other, and by realizing their dreams as professionals and entrepreneurs. Hellinida celebrates what it means to be a proud, successful Greek woman.
The organization is planning for its first launch event, an Astoria Story Slam, where residents compete in round-tables in a story-telling contest for the crown of “Queen Rhasode.”
